Andrew suggested that I write a post that will outline stretching techniques. It would be devastating to be up on the mountain and develop a muscle cramp or injury. Proper stretching can help prevent such issues.
Whenever I go for a hike, I do the same stretching routine as I do for a run. As I posted to my blog here, I obtained the routine from REI’s knowledge base. I have also found some great techniques from LIVESTRONG.COM. These stretches are great right before you start the hike and after. It would also be a great idea to start stretching on a daily basis as the more flexible your muscles are, the less susceptible to injury they are.
Andrew also found several articles from Backpacker Magazine:

Thank you so much for putting this up! With just under two weeks until Mitchell, it might also be a great idea to get a short hike in, just to get your legs nice and loose before the real hike.
You’re welcome! That is a good point to get a hike in. You going back to Crowders?
I might be going back to Crowders, but planning on doing some of the greenway tomorrow. You wanna go?
